About The Role

Our Junior Crowd Animators work within a team of animators to create an interesting array of characters animation for secondary characters. For this action packed show, secondary characters play a huge role in the storytelling and in some moments, are key to the story. 

The day-to-day focuses on comedic timing, charming acting choices, and production deadlines, whilst meeting the Director's vision and the brief from the Client.

Day to Day: 

  • Working as part of a team of animators, and regularly communicating with your Team Lead and Animation Supervisor.
  • Managing your time efficiently to meet the deadlines of your assigned shots.
  • Making sure your work is communicating the story, ideas and acting choices clearly from blocking through to the final animation.
  • Responding positively to, and acting on notes and feedback from your Director and Animation Supervisor. 
  • Creating and applying animation cycles on background characters. 
  • Working efficiently with large volumes of characters and applying methods e.g. caching to speed up the workflow.

About You

Must Have:

  • Experience animating a crowd.
  • Experience understanding body mechanics, posing and getting the best performance possible out of a character.
  • A solid and technical understanding of Maya.
  • Ability to receive feedback and respond positively to direction.
  • Good time management and prioritising skills.
  • Ability to share knowledge and skills with other team members.
  • Ability as a great team player and collaborator.
  • Creative problem solving skills.
  • A solid grasp of creating and applying animation cycles.

Bonus Points:

  • Python or Mel script knowledge.
  • Additional creative skills i.e drawing/acting/dance etc.
  • Shotgun or FTrack knowledge.
