About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Set and Prop Designer who will be designing concepts of stylised props and / or sets collaboratively under the supervision of the Art Director. This is for one of our upcoming 3D productions!
  
This is a short term opportunity and we are looking for an artist who are available to start on the 27th of January and the contract will finish on the 14th February 2025. The successful candidate will need to be based in the UK.

Day to Day:
  • Researching and providing a range of exploratory sketches for props and sets following an Art Director`s brief.
  • Provide final-polished designs of concept based on exploratory work.
  • Provide detailed design sheets, including turnarounds and functionality information of the subject matter.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure designs are workable throughout the production pipeline.
  • Working as part of a team to interpret assigned concepts and supporting other members of your team when required.
  • Managing your assets and time efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Responding positively to notes and feedback.

About You

Must Have:
  • Strong aesthetic judgement with strong skills in drawing, painting and attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to different styles of show.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a variety of prop and set designs options that fit into a story/world.
  • Be able to present work in a clear and concise manner that demonstrates thought process and purpose.
  • Understanding of functionality and mechanics of designs for props and sets.
  • Strong knowledge of tools and software such as Cintiq, Photoshop, or other applicable design software.
  • Creative flair.
  • Good understanding of colours, lighting and value structure.
  • Strong understanding of volumes, turnarounds and perspective.
  • Able to visually develop and design props for 3D production through sophisticated exploratory designs.
  • Industry experience in a similar role.
Bonus Points:
  • Being a team player and great collaborator.
  • 3D skills in Maya or equivalent are a plus.
  • A passion for cinematography or video games.
  • Creative problem solving.
  • Able to give and receive design related feedback.
  • Excellent time management skills in meeting design deadlines from concept to final deliverables.
