About The Role

Brighton Zoo are currently searching for a super-keen and talented animation Assistant Editor to join our team. You will be splitting your week working across 2 productions within the studio, as well as creating new localised versions and Youtube compilations of an existing show. Please note that the role, whilst hybrid, is based within our Brighton Studio and we expect you to work a minimum of 3 flexible days a week in the studio. 
Day to Day:
  • Work closely with the series editor, short-form producer and production manager to keep on top of schedules and organise media across productions.
  • Cut the initial assembly of animatics with an emphasis on timing.
  • Keep edits updated throughout the various production stages.
  • Communicate regularly with sound studio, from initial voice records to final mixes.
  • Lay back new audio dubs against existing footage.
  • Cut existing footage into new compilations.
  • Add graphics and effects within After Effects.
  • Be organised and efficient when handling exports and deliveries.
  • Handling requests from production for various exports.
  • Work closely and communicate well across in-house departments. 
  • Assisting in the reviewing and critiques of work-in-progress.

About You

Must Have:
  • Familiarity with Adobe Premier Pro.
  • Familiarity with Adobe After Effects.
  • Experience of publishing to Youtube.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to pick up new software.
  • A good understanding of film and digital formats, files, frame rates, resolutions, and codecs.
  • A strong focus on narrative-based editing.
  • An understanding of sound design and how to implement and source sound effects.
Bonus Points:
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Storyboard Pro.
