About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced and creative Character Modeller to join our team, who enjoys the buzz of creating shape and form whilst implementing designs that bring our characters to life.

Your day-to-day will focus on creating detailed, stylised assets based on informative concept 2D designs or 3D sculpts, whilst also meeting production deadlines and that all important brief from our Directors and Clients.

Day to Day:

  • Working as part of a small team to define characters across an array of shows, executing strong character posing and expressions
  • Character sculpting and topology
  • Working with the Rigging team and Asset Supervisors to ensure characters can be rigged effectively and work within our pipeline
  • Managing your time efficiently and effectively to meet schedules and deadlines
  • Making sure your work is communicating the design, ideas and acting choices clearly from blocking through to the final animation
  • Responding positively to, and acting on, notes and feedback from your Lead(s)
  • Effectively realising a 2D concept through to 3D, as well as being able to work with minimal design

About You

Must Have:

  • Strong 2D and 3D design skills
  • Excellent knowledge of animal and human anatomy.
  • Excellent knowledge of topology and character modelling. 
  • Experience working with Blendshapes
  • Strong creative eye for organic form.
  • A solid understanding of Zbrush and Maya.
  • Eye for detail and able to quality control own work to ensure highest quality before handing off assets.
  • Able to take design from ambiguous to full design implementation.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Creative problem solving skills, able to identify potential issues and put forward solutions.
  • Time management and prioritising skills.
  • Able to share knowledge and skills with other team members.
  • A great team player and collaborator.

Bonus Points:

  • Previous experience within Animation, VFX or Games industry
  • A solid understanding of Substance Painter and Photoshop
  • Previous traditional drawing and sculpting
