About The Role

The Talent Development & Resourcing Manager role is central to the delivery of high-quality talent development and succession planning activities across the studio, with a particular focus on our artist teams. You will report to, and work closely with the Head of People and Talent. You will be responsible for managing and developing the talent development and succession planning process in the studio, known as Blue Zoo Academy.

The BZ Academy is a comprehensive programme that makes sure we nurture and develop talent in the studio, from internships and apprenticeships, to job specific and leadership skills development programmes.

In this role you will also be working closely with the Head of Productions, Production Managers, the recruitment team and key personnel on resourcing, succession planning and artist development activities.


Day to Day:

  • Responsible for developing and managing the full scope of BZ Academy, including continuous improvement and reporting
  • Implement and manage the development review process to help develop and nurture career growth of artists in the studio
  • Resource planning and requirements for current and new productions working with other departments in the studio to support planning, such as productions, recruitment, IT, pipeline, etc
  • Internal resourcing and crewing up for new and current productions alongside the productions and recruitment teams
  • Identifying skills gaps and proposing initiatives to address them, paying particular attention to the leadership pipeline
  • Working with heads of departments, key personnel and the recruitment team to resource existing and new hires into appropriate roles and understand longer term recruitment and talent development needs
  • Working with supervisors, team leads and production teams to cultivate a strong studio culture keeping artists motivated and engaged
  • Lead and coordinate the studio wide talent succession planning process
  • Lead and manage the studio internship, apprenticeship and work experience programmes and initiatives

About You

Must have:

  • 18 months + experience in learning and development and/or talent development
  • A passion for HR, talent and people related initiatives
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a busy team
  • Excellent communication skills and able to adapt style and approach to meet the needs of different audiences
  • Able to think laterally and take a pragmatic approach to represent the needs of both artists and production teams, within the parameters of a project based production environment
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to break down complex projects, identifying risks and appropriate mitigation
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential
  • Managing time efficiently: experience of working in a fast-paced environment as part of a team
  • Able to build and maintain relationships at all levels through timely, appropriate and consistent communication
  • Able to streamline processes and maximise lessons learnt to improve effectiveness

  • Good facilitation skills and confident presenting and delivering training
