About The Role

As Development Manager, you will be working in the Developments team helping to manage projects that are approved for development, preparing them for pitching. You will be responsible for overseeing the management of the entire slate of development projects, being instrumental in the planning of all project proposals, deliverables, development budgets and schedules and supporting Development Producers in managing resources.

The scope and nature of this role means you will be working collaboratively with other departments and key personnel in the studio as well as external parties.

Day to Day :

  • Maintain clear oversight of the development slate, including current and upcoming development timelines, events and deadlines, adjusting priorities where necessary.
  • Manage multiple projects at different levels of development including all project management administration.
  • Act as the point of communication both internally and externally, across all animation departments, as well as with clients and co-producers.
  • Draw up project proposals for all approved developments, agreeing on deliverables with the developments team
  • Ensure the proposed budget and schedules are discussed with the correct teams/colleagues e.g. Productions, Lookdev, Short Form, Finance to make sure assumptions on schedule and budget are checked, amending as required to find an alternative proposal.
  • Oversee and support producers to translate proposed schedules and budgets into a project timeline.
  • Seek out and support applications for funding available to finance development on projects or aid finance on the production.
  • Work closely with Development Producers to ensure appropriate contracts are issued and signed and the studio retains the correct rights.
  • Work closely with the Head of Productions to ensure smooth and thorough handover when projects move into production. 
  • Arrange preparation of pitch documents, pitch pack folders with digital content, scripts etc and also printed materials when necessary. 
  • Stay up to date with current market opportunities/priorities, attending events like BBC briefings and CMC and reading industry publications.

About You

Must have:

  • Demonstrable experience managing a team.
  • Excellent organisational skills, happy working independently, as well as collaborating with diverse personalities and all levels of seniority.
  • Good at multitasking and managing a slate of projects, as well as managing  priorities and own time effectively.
  • Great attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Previous experience working in a production role within animation or related industry.
  • Previous experience with Production Management Software.
  • A solid understanding of 2D and 3D animation processes and production.
  • Able to produce and track project budgets and schedules.
  • Be a team player and great collaborator.
  • Able to see the bigger picture, as well as being hands-on, with the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working in live-action, tv production, post production or film.
