About The Role

We are welcoming an exciting new opportunity within the Short Form/Commercials team as Head of Short Form Production.

The Short Form Head of Production will be responsible for the management of all Short Form productions across the studio, and management of the team of Producers.

As well as oversight and responsibility for revenue and costs on individual projects, the Short Form Head of Production will work with the New Business EP to put together bids for prospective work, and is also  responsible for overseeing and developing the Productions team. The role will report directly to the Head Of Short Form.

Day to Day:

  • Line Managing Producers and Production Coordinators.
  • Assessing production needs, allocating relevant Producers and production teams to each project.
  • Being a key point of contact for issues arising in productions, escalating issues and recommendations to the Head of Short Form and Exec Team team as needed.
  • Responsibility for monitoring production tools and workflows.
  • Maintain an overview of all production schedules, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standard achievable, on time and within budget.
  • Meet regularly with Production Managers to monitor project budgets individual and combined) and ensure  that they are working within given targets.
  • Oversee liaison with clients in areas of responsibility and budgetary importance as needed.
  • Collaborate with the New Business EP to bid on prospective projects.
  • Engage in production team mentoring, support and training as needed.
  • Responsible for working with the Head of Short Form and Director to set approved budgets at the start of projects.
  • Monitoring project costs in line with production progress and overall budgetary targets.
  • Meet regularly with Production Managers to monitor project budgets and ensure that they are working within given targets – including running weekly production meetings.
  • Work with Production Managers and People and Talent team to assess resourcing needs for all projects.
  • Work with the People and Talent team and individual project teams in the review and selection of prospective production candidates.
  • Work with the People and Talent team on succession planning and identifying future skills/training requirements.
  • First point of contact and support for the Head of Short Form, and key point of contact between Short Form and Long Form staff.

About You

Must Have:

  • Extensive experience (at least 5 years') in a Senior Production role
  • Thorough understanding of the animation and VFX pipeline and post-production process
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively with client, producers, artists and senior management, both written and verbal
  • Exemplary organisational skills, with experience of using scheduling, project and resource management tools, and of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Calm under pressure, resourceful and a creative problem solver, used to working to strict deadlines and on own initiative
  • Experience hiring staff and freelance artists, and hiring, managing and mentoring production staff
  • Extremely good organisation skills when juggling multiple projects and priorities belonging to different stakeholders
  • Very clear, efficient, and effective communication skills
  • Proactive and positive approach to resolving issues under pressure
  • Excellent English writing skills for creating and reviewing easy to understand documentation
