About The Role

We are on the lookout for some super keen Harmony Scene Build Artists who are looking for their first steps in the animation industry.

This is a great entry level position for new graduates or animation artists of some experience who haven't decided on a specialism. Scene Build artists are responsible for populating the Harmony scenes so that they are ready for the animation team to work on. You will also troubleshoot the technical/narrative/visual issues that become apparent during the scene build process.

The role would be remote working initially, but once appropriate in-house artists would be preferred for this role.

Day to Day:

  • Track and gather all assets as needed for each scene: i.e. backgrounds, rigs, props, crowds, animatics, audio.
  • Attend episode and asset review meetings and take notes related to the content of each scene.
  • Position elements within each scene according to the shot’s layout.
  • Maintain organised production files according to studio naming conventions and a clean Harmony Node View
  • You will work closely with the Animation Leads to ensure the Scene Build workflow delivers assets suitable for the animation team.
  • You will work closely with the Layout Lead to ensure continuity and correct staging across the episode.
  • You will work with the Pipeline team to optimise Scene Build workflows.
  • Depending on resources available, we will work to budget time for you to learn skills from different departments, depending on your interest i.e. animation or layout

About You

Must Have:

  • Some knowledge of Toon Boom Harmony software
  • Good understanding of animation and design
  • A portfolio demonstrating at least one relevant animation industry skill
  • Detail oriented and good eye
  • Excellent organisation and self-management skills
  • Listen to and implement direction positively
  • Team player and enjoys collaboration
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to take ownership of your part in the pipeline

Bonus Points:

We would love to see any of the following in your portfolio;
  • Some animation samples
  • Some scene setup/comp samples would be great too
  • Layout or BG design that shows understanding of spacing and depth
