About The Role

We’re looking to welcome a CG supervisor on to one of our new and exciting shows. 

As the CG Supervisor you will be a pivotal member of the production reporting on the creative to the Director (on story requirements and tone) and the Art Director (on design language). You will be responsible for the technical implementation of production to the Director's vision, providing leadership and guidance and the creative bridge between 2D design and final picture within the scope of the production.  You're responsible for maintaining regular communication with the department HoDs to ensure alignment with studio practices, workflows and creative standards.

Reporting to the Line Producer (on resources and scheduling), you’ll work closely with Directors.  You will provide leadership and support to the departmental Supervisors to tackle episodic challenges, identify creative solutions and oversee these solutions across the production pipeline.

This opportunity requires talent to be based regionally - in the UK, outside of the M25 as per client requirements.The successful candidate will need to be based in the UK and will require the right to work in the UK.

 
Day to Day:
  •  Oversee end to end CG Pipeline for the production: (from Asset Build through to final Lighting, FX and Compositing) able to understand the translation of 2D design intent into fully realised 3D worlds and final frames.
  • Directing Team / Communication: working closely with the Art Director and Director to interpret the aesthetic and storytelling vision, applying both creative and technical insight to problem-solving. Guide Leads and Supervisors in delivering these solutions, and provide clear feedback to refine and clarify the brief where needed, which might also include direct communication with the client.
  • Production Team: support Production through regular communication, scoping technical and creative requirements, and scheduling resources effectively across the production pipeline.
  • Pipeline / Technical Teams: collaborate to ensure workflows and tools support both creative and production needs, balancing ambition with technical and render constraints.
  • Assets / Look Dev / Rigging Teams: work with Leads and Supervisors to ensure character models, surfacing, rigs, and environment assets are delivered to the highest creative and technical standards, fully supporting the overall visual vision within the scope of the production.
  • Layout/Animation: awareness of potential animation difficulties from early scripting stage, raising with the HOD if not solved; oversee management of the layout and vis dev teams ensuring a smooth transition into animation and checking what props are needed. Responsible for interdepartmental problem solving such as troubleshooting publishing issues, raising modelling issues with the assets team, liaising with pipeline on all tools and updates required for animation
  • Lighting & Compositing Team: partner with the Lighting and Compositing Supervisor to maintain visual consistency and storytelling through lighting, supporting reviews, and providing high-level creative guidance to help achieve the Art Director’s vision while balancing what’s possible within the production scope.
  • FX Team: collaborate with the FX Supervisor to integrate FX as a core part of the visual storytelling, overseeing shaders, simulations, assetisation, and rendering approaches across departments.
  • Environments / Matte Painting / Integration: facilitate the cross-department integration of environments and matte painting (DMP, projections, set extensions) into the CG pipeline.
  • Cross-Department Communication: ensure challenges, solutions, and feedback are communicated clearly and promptly across all teams, keeping everyone aligned and accountable throughout the pipeline including being proactive in supporting departments and supporting future planning.

About You

Must Have:  
  • Strong artistic eye with deep understanding of composition, lighting, colour, and cinematic storytelling.
  • Extensive experience across the full CG pipeline, from asset build through final compositing.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools (e.g. Maya, Substance, Arnold/Redshift, Blender).
  • Leadership to lead all relevant departments mentioned in production oversight breakdown.
  • To problem solve and troubleshoot technical issues and resolving workflow inefficiencies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of aligning creative and technical teams.
  • Ability to prioritise, manage time effectively, and deliver to tight episodic schedules.
  • Proven leadership experience across multi-disciplinary teams on high-quality series or feature productions.
  • Expertise in lighting and look development, with the ability to guide final image quality.
  • Solid understanding of FX and environment workflows, and their integration into final imagery.
Bonus Points:
  • Previous Feature experience.
  • Experience on stylised or design-led animated series.
  • Knowledge of pipeline development, scripting, or automation (Python, MEL).
  • Experience developing new workflows or visual approaches across productions.
  • Experience with matte painting / DMP workflows and integration.
